When I live my life by the Song of Songs, I can’t just say, “Oh, I love everyone or everything… .” Each person, color, flower, river, place has an essence that’s waiting to be discovered by my attention and love. Although there is a great web of inter-connectedness that draws us together in its weave, each being stands in its uniqueness. i must stand in my own uniqueness in order to discover and appreciate the uniqueness of another. To experience my own uniqueness means to embark upon a path of self-knowledge and self-realization.
There are sixty queens,
And eighty concubines,
And young maidens beyond number.
One alone is my dove, my perfect one,
One alone so luminous in her mother’s heart. Song of Songs 6:8-9
